Zinser Elementary News November 6

Celebration Week!

We celebrated our student successes this week! Congratulations to 4th grader Cade Read who is our Zinser Elementary school-wide Student of the Month! Congratulations to all of our “Students of the month’s” from each classroom.

COVID Update: Families, we know the challenges that exist with positive COVID tests and quarantining. This week was a very busy week for us at Zinser. The good news is there continues to be no evidence of it spreading at school. Please continue to be careful and honest with your child’s wellness each day. Thank you for staying patient and understanding with us as we sort out contact tracing to the best of our abilities after a positive test result. A big thank you to Nurse Courtney for all her many hours of work doing the best she can to figure out these challenging situations.

Keep Your Child Home or Report to School? Using the Kent County Health Department’s expectations, here is important information from Nurse Courtney about when to send the child to school or keep them home during COVID:

  • Students should stay home and be evaluated by a physician if they meet any of the criteria below: a new cough or fever OR lost of smell or taste - OR if a student has TWO of the following symptom
  • Chills, headache, extreme tiredness, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, body aches, nausea/vomiting or diarrhea, or shortness of breath.
  • If the student has only one of the symptoms listed in the later list, they are okay to come to school unless other symptoms develop.
  • Siblings of a sick student can continue going to school unless a COVID test is ordered for the sick sibling.
  • If someone in the household has a pending COVID test, all members need to stay home until the test results are back.
  • If a student was in contact with a person with confirmed COVID-19, they must quarantine for 14 days even if they remain asymptomatic or have a negative COVID test.
  • Call our office or Nurse Courtney with any questions of course!

Mental Wellness: This November our True Success theme is Gratitude. At Zinser we will be focusing on caring for self and caring for others. We will provide activities that promote conversation and understanding of mental wellness.

As part of caring for others, we are asking all Zinser students to bring in $1 or more so that we can purchase items for 10-15 Thanksgiving food baskets for families in need. We are asking that any donations be turned in to the student's teacher by Friday, November 13.

REDEFINED

Our Personal Mastery educational experience has redefined education and has gained attention around the state and nation. Personal Mastery provides your child with personalized attention from teachers. Instead of teaching to a broad group of students without understanding of their individual strengths and weaknesses, Personal Mastery allows teachers to interact with students individually or in small groups to help them better address their weaknesses. In this way, we strive to help your child reach their full potential.
