Dear Parents,
I hope everyone enjoyed their mid winter break last week as well as the unexpected snow day we had this week on Monday. Students have enjoyed playing outside this week in the snow and having warmer temperatures and sunny skies brings hope that spring is coming sooner than later! Since returning from mid-winter break we have welcomed back a variety of students from our virtual learning environment (KHOLA), transitioned to having all specials in their regular classrooms and gearing for conferences as well as the reading month of March. Report cards were sent home last week Friday. Please be sure to review them and be prepared to ask questions as needed at conferences. If you have not scheduled a conference to date, please see the link below, contact your child’s teacher or our school office ASAP. As always, please continue to stay connected by reading newsletters and reaching out to your child’s teacher or our school office if you have questions or concerns.

Dear Parents,
I hope everyone enjoyed the extended weekend with the snow day that occurred last Friday. For the past two weeks, we have opened up our playground by removing classroom zones to allow students from the same grade to play together when outside. It has gone well and it has been wonderful seeing students reconnect more with friends they have not had the opportunity to play with. This week we have transitioned to allowing Art to be held in our art room and library being held in the library for all grades (while maintaining precautionary measures). Next week we plan to transition Music and Spanish back into their respective classrooms. These small changes will continue to support the mental health of our student population. Since the return from break in January we have not had any new cases of COVID-19 to report. This past week students in grades Pre-Kindergarten (K Knights) through fourth grade listened to “Kidz Have Rights” presentations in their classrooms virtually. These presentations help students understand how to protect themselves from unwanted touch and what to do if they feel unsafe and who some safe adults may be to help them. In addition, this past week we had a visit from the Mobile Dentists. If you had planned for your child to receive this service and it did not occur, please let us know. Please don’t forget that there will be no school next week Monday and Tuesday due to mid-winter break. Students will return to school on Wednesday, February 17.
