Athletics

Kenowa Hills has an extensive sports program with almost 30 different varsity sports offered, including the recent addition of lacrosse. We have just completed another successful school year with conference championships, a district championship, Academic All-state recognition and individual state finals representation.

Athletics in general are a great complement to an academic program. It is our belief that the character attributes such as hard work, team work, etc., learned through our sports teams, is a great enhancement to the academic program we offer here at Kenowa Hills and are excited about our athletes and their achievements.

Important 2020-21 Information

Winter Sports Requirements: 2020-21

Students and their parents/guardians will be required to complete the two-page MHSAA ANNUAL SPORTS HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE. Athletes will still be required to get a pink Permission to Practice slip from the athletic office to give to their coaches in order to participate in a school sponsored sport. The other requirements will still be in place in order to obtain a pink slip:

  • the participation fee of $85.00 (waived for those whose annual family income determines they meet the guidelines to receive free or reduced lunch. This is not the same as the free lunch provided to all students through the end of the year)
  • the Spectrum Health Medical Consent to Treat form filled out completely and on file in our office (if your child did a fall sport in 2020, we have this form for the current school year)

If an athlete did not have a physical on file this year with our office, athletes will be required to get a physical in order to participate during the 2020-2021 school year. The physical form must be on file with our office. Physicals/Pink Slips are required prior to the first day of practice and/or tryouts for a winter sport, 2021.

There will be additional information forthcoming regarding practices, workouts and participation in a winter high school sport. Please contact Vicki Bekins, vbekins@khps.org or 616-784-2115 with questions.

REDEFINED

Our Personal Mastery educational experience has redefined education and has gained attention around the state and nation. Personal Mastery provides your child with personalized attention from teachers. Instead of teaching to a broad group of students without understanding of their individual strengths and weaknesses, Personal Mastery allows teachers to interact with students individually or in small groups to help them better address their weaknesses. In this way, we strive to help your child reach their full potential.
